London Dreams Hindi Movie Review 2009

In recent years Bollywood hasn't churned out too many two-hero films. We have either witnessed overcrowded multistarrers or over packaged solo vehicles. London Dreams unties Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn more than a decade after the hugely popular Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Over the years, both actors have firmly carved a niche for themselves among the industry's top brigade.

Vipul Shah's story charts the lives of two friends, from the lush fields of Punjab to the high stakes world of showbiz. Arjun (Ajay Devgn) is an ambitious, trained musician whose dream is to perform at London's Wembly Arena. His best buddy Mannu (Salman Khan) is a natural talent. Despite his inborn ability, Mannu is not at all serious about music. On Arjun's insistence, Mannu joins his band and becomes an overnight star. Arjun might be the slogger – but Mannu has the fans. A jealous Arjun now has to choose between friendship and ambition. As Devgn says in one of the scenes - he has the passion, but his friend has the X-factor.

London Dreams is not your regular male bonding film. The friendship is a little more complex. Vipul takes his own time to establish the plot, giving equal attention to both his leading men. While the story is narrated throughAjay 's character, Salman steals the edge in few scenes. It's almost autobiographical, as Salman's superstardom is all about how he appeals to his fans. Be it the lighter portions initially or his troubled tryst with fame post interval, this is perhaps Salman Khan's best performance ever. The actor is completely in control and emotes like never before. If you thought Wanted showcased bits of Salman Khan's acting, London Dreams is several notches higher. Hope he puts a permanent stop on romantic comedies.

Ajay Devgn has played the anti-hero before. But after a wonderfully hilarious act in last week's All The Best – it is always nice to see him return to home turf. While he doesn't get the crowd pleasing one liners, Ajay is the only actor who has the intensity to carry off the role. From love to jealousy to anger to insecurity, Ajay brilliantly conveys a wide range of emotions. As a director, Vipul Shah gives a fair deal to both his actors. The interval scene involving Salman andAjay is the high point of the film.

The pace however slackens a bit in the second half. Some trimming would have helped. Vipul Shah's treatment is not over the top or melodramatic - but some more conflict in the script would have enhanced the impact. Yet it is one of the most well written films of the year. The finale might come across as simplistic, but on the flip side it also mature and practical.

Shankar Ehsaan Loy's music perfectly compliments the screenplay. No song seems out of place. Asin is the common love interest and does what a traditional Hindi film heroine has to do, ie smile and go through several costume changes. The two VJ's (Rannvijay and Aditya) provide the right look to the rock band.

VERDICT: Eventually London Dreams is all about the joy of watching Salman and Ajay's chemistry. Their star power makes up for all the flaws. Both have put their heart and soul into the film, delivering powerhouse, career defining performances.

Rating: 3.5/5

bhai dooj 2009 - bhai duj 2009

CHANDIGARH: The relationship between brothers and sisters is given special importance in India. That explains why we have two festivatls

celebrating this bond — Raksha Bandhan and Bhai Dooj.

Sisters visit brothers’ houses during Raksha Bandhan. However, o the occasion of Bhai Dooj, which falls on Monday, it is the brother who calls on the sister’s family and both give gifts to each other.

City-based astrologer Madan Gupta Spatu, “Bhai Dhooj is celebrated on the second day of moon’s ascendancy during the lunar month of Kartik (October-November). Sisters apply tilak on the foreheads of their brothers and give them gifts. Even fighting siblings come together on this day. So, the festival strengthens relationships.” He said, “The auspicious time for Bhai Dhooj will start from 9.58am on Monday and will continue till 9.28am on Tuesday.”
“These days, often there is no actual contact between siblings. They use email and use SMSes to send wishes and send gifts through online shopping,” he added.

Spatu further said, “Lord Krishna had visited his sister Subhadra’s house after slaying Narakasura on this day. She had offered him sweets and also put a ‘protective’ tilak on his forehead.”

All The Best 2009 Hindi Movie Review

All The Best 2009 Hindi Movie Review

Directed by Rohit Shetty, All The Best is a total time pass Film starring Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Mugdha Godse and more. Check out the review of All The Best.

All The Best: Total time pass flick
Rating: 3 out of 5*
Starring: Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Mugdha Godse, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Ashwini Kalsekar and Mukesh Tiwari
Director: Rohit Shetty

Critic’s Review of All The Best
Settled in Goa, Veer (Fardeen) is a singer by profession and is making a daily living out of his older brother Dharam’s (Dutt) sent pocket money. Veer has even lied to Dharam that he is now married and aiding him in all his lies is his buddy Prem (Ajay Devgan). Though in reality Veer is in love with Vidya (Mugdha) but her father hates him. Prem however is married to Jhanvi (Bipasha) who is looking after his ancestor’s outdated gymnasium. Things go awry for Prem and Veer as they end up losing a lot of money and are neck deep in debt. Just then Dharam takes a detour to Goa en route his travel to Lusoto. With his sudden arrival, Veer and Prem don’t get time to cover up their lies and Dharam mistakes Jhanvi to be Veer’s wife and Vidya to be Prem’s girlfriend. What chaotic situations it all leads to with multiple characters dropping in to make their problems more complicated forms the rest of the film.
All The Best is undoubtedly the most entertaining film amongst the 2009 Diwali releases. Rohit Shetty has yet again got it right when it comes to keeping his audience laughing without resorting below the belt humour and vulgar interludes. Witty one-liners and hilarious sequences involving Dutt and Johnny Lever have you laughing out loud. However, the first half isn’t that gripping. But the second half covers up for it with confusions multiplying and each actor also contributing his comic best. The length however appears stretched as it runs around 2 hours 25 minutes. Some gags could have been shorter one feels. Pritam’s music is perfect for the film.

Ajay Devgan showcases his improved comic timing and towers above the rest. Dutt too is in top form and entertains. Fardeen is passable. Bipasha and Mugdha don’t have much to do but be a part of the chaos which they do ably. Johnny Lever finally after a long time gets a meaty funny part and he utilizes this opportunity to the maxim. Sanjay Mishra and Ashwini Kalsekar make the proceedings funnier.

It’s a total paisa vasool entertainer and worth a Diwali outing. Go for it guys and forget your recession worries!

Peranmai Movie Review | Jeyam Ravi Movie Review

Cast: Jeyam Ravi, Roland Kickinger, Vadivelu, Oorvasi, Ponvannan, Dhanushika, Liya Sree, Saranya, Varsha, Vasundhara

Director: S.P.Jananathan

Music: Vidhyasagar

‘Peranmai’ is a movie of Jayam Ravi which is filled with high octane action and thrill.

But the action element gets highlighted in the second half and the thrill element disappears from the frame leaving the audiences a bit overdosed with action.

The movie ‘Peranmai’ was hyped a lot, but the stars like Roland who played a vital character in the movie were not utilized to the mark.

The movie ‘Peranmai’ may sink in this diwali season and so may just reap back the distributors their investments.

Blue Hindi Movie Review

While most movie critics have done their job of dissecting BLUE to be a directorial disaster and having a weak story line, what they have actually done is to benchmark it to a typical Bollywood movie.

How many of the present lot of directors would think of having the lead star without a heroine for the entire length of the movie, and go all out to make a movie that we would love to have but only if offered by a Hollywood director not from a ‘desi’ director.

While Indians have liked Jaws and Titanic, National treasure was a big hit, no one questioned the logic behind the story or any of the scenes, but, when a desi director does international quality work, everyone sits up and puts in their two bits of opinion.

A great man had once said– Opinions are like belly buttons– everyone has one.

The so called critics are making comments more on a personal front with some critics giving it bad reviews only because their competitors have raved about it or because they share a bias or loyalties as you may call it to certain producers.

In BLUE the underwater sequences are beautiful, the bike races world class, the actors especially Lara and Akshay look stunning and very different from their earlier movies.

Overall the movie is visual treat and you can sit back and enjoy the scenic beauty of Bahamas.

As a movie buff all I can say is every movie is special, you got to go figure for yourself and stop being a football of other people’s opinions.

Mahavat | MVAT | Maharashtra VAT | VAT Maharashtra | Maharashtra Sales Tax | Maharashtra Value Added Tax | www.mahavat.gov.in

Value added tax (VAT) is a consumption tax levied on value added. In contrast to sales tax, VAT is neutral with respect to the number of passages that there are between the producer and the final consumer; where sales tax is levied on total value at each stage, the result is a cascade (downstream taxes levied on upstream taxes).

A VAT is an indirect tax, in that the tax is collected from someone who does not bear the entire cost of the tax.
